Alexandria Election Guide
YIMBYs of Northern Virginia's Alexandria members are proud to endorse Alyia Gaskins for Mayor. Alyia has proven herself a housing champion during her time on Council, and her responses to our candidate questionnaire align with YIMBYs of NoVA's policy objectives.
For City Council, we proudly endorse Sarah Bagley, Kirk McPike, Jesse O'Connell, Canek Aguirre, and Kevin Harris. All have proven themselves as housing champions whether through their work on City Council, their professional and personal dedication to solving our housing crisis, or both. Their responses to our candidate questionnaire align with YIMBYs of NoVA's policy objectives.
Alexandria voters may vote for up to six candidates for Council, and one candidate for mayor. We strongly encourage all housing supporters to vote for all five of our endorsed candidates for Council and Alyia Gaskins for Mayor.
Beyond voting for these endorsees, we encourage you to support their campaigns however you're able. Click each candidate's linked name to visit their website, read their priorities, and get involved however you're able, and keep an eye out for opportunities we'll organize to meet or volunteer for our housing champions!

To win endorsement, each of these leaders responded to our required questionnaire and won support from at least 60% of our Alexandria members. Due to a communication mix-up on our part, Councilman John Chapman did not receive our questionnaire in time to participate in our formal endorsement process. He graciously provided responses to our candidate questionnaire after the fact, which are available here. We encourage all voters to consider his responses when deciding how to vote in this year's elections.
