Our Story & Where We Operate
YIMBYs of Northern Virginia began August 20, 2021, as a Facebook group that has grown to more than 900 members. We are a grassroots organization of people from all walks of life. A few of us have been in the fight for abundant, affordable housing for years, or work in real estate, planning, and development. But many including some of our most active members are newcomers to urbanism who are excited about its potential to change the world.
YIMBYs of Northern Virginia is a network of grassroots activists in Arlington County, Alexandria City, the Fairfax area (including Falls Church), and Prince William (including Manassas) and Loudoun Counties. We aspire to eventually cover Fauquier and Stafford Counties and Fredericksburg as well, encompassing all of Virginia's Washington, DC suburbs.
